Dear all,
I have a laptop Acer Aspire 3050.
If I buy a caddy that converts the PATA to SATA (the one to be placed in the CD player area) would I increase the HDD performance using a SATA HDD?

It sounds a bit confusing but I make a summary:

Laptop with PATA connection at the cd player
CD player removed
Caddy that converts PATA to SATA (inserted in the CD player area) with SATA HDD

Will the SATA HDD perform better than the current HDD IDE/PATA considering I use the first one in a caddy that is still connected to a PATA port?

To give an idea of the Caddy I attach here a link with an example of the caddy:

Thank you

PS: the current HDD of the laptop is a IDE/PATA 7200rpm placed in the normal HDD area

Thank you for your answer.
My doubt is that the speed of data transmission/writing/reading is determined by the technology of the HDD and not by the connection... but as you say the connection may play a role
