Hi,
I have an old IDE drive , Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 300GB. st3300822a. The device does not spin up, and there is clear and evident damage to a component situated on the PCB of the drive. I have tried my best to photograph the drives PCB and the component. Would anyone by chance know if I could replace this component or if there is a fix - as I would like to recover the data on this drive. Many thanks..

This video shows a person simply removing what appears to be the same component? Could I follow suit?

Sure if u have the tools, give it a try.

The other option is, buy the whole board from eBay but I recall one has to pull a socketed chip out, containing calibration info, send it to the eBayer vendor who can copy it to the donor board before shipping it out to you, but I don't see a socketed chip in the picture.
