I can't seem to get my computer to locate my HD. I don't know if I just have the IDE cables attached wrong or what...I also have a dvd-rom and a cdrw connected to IDE..Please help. Where do I put what IDE cable and so on..thank you

There should be two cables running from the motherboard to the three devices. Can you say which devices are together on a cable? For instance, the hard drive may be alone on one cable, and the two CD drives may be attached to the same cable.

You have to be sure the drive is jumpered correctly. Most drives have a little chart on them describing how to arrange the jumpers for Master or Slave mode.

You cannot have two masters or two slaves on the same cable.

Also, most hard drives have a different jumper setting for Master (w/ Slave Present) and Single (Master w/out Slave present). If your HDD is the only drive on its chain, double check to make sure it is set as "Single", not Master.

If you still have problems, tell us which drives are on which connector on which cable and how they are jumpered.
