HDD problems win7

hello, recently my programmes started freezing on win7. after reboots win runs diskcheck and there are always some errors like Attribute record (128, ''''). i turned off my computer by power switch recently so that might hurt hdd i think. any tools i can test it with?

Hi there Filipgpl,

In case your computer boots up, you really need to back up the data stored on it that you need. After that, you can test it with some of these: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
Observe the SMART report and look for pending/reallocated and uncorrectable sectors.

If your system can't boot, you will need to attach the drive to another system as a secondary drive and basically do the same: try to retrieve the data and test.

i downloaded HD tune. went to "health" tab and it shows (BE) airflow temperature (current)65 (worst)43 (threshold)45 (data)*lots of numbers* (status) failed. what does it mean? HDD overheating?

As the other poster stated, if you don't have the data backed up, do it now!

One of the tools mentioned in the link is Seatools, you can use the Windows or DOS versions to test the drive. Run the short tests and then the long test and if you get any failures it means the drive is dying and you need to replace it.

i think i solved the problem. HDD reaches 40-50 C
