How would i go about keeping my games ive downloaded on my hdd and putting the O.S on the SSD? and also delete the old o.s. on the HDD. i know it sounds confusing and idk how to simplify it :/ . got new parts coming in and i dont want to go through the extremely time consuming task of redownloading all the games i play.

Solution

Ideally, you relocate anything on the HDD to a different drive. Just temporarily.
Then...

Steam has a specific procedure for relocating games. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

nice that solves that problem, but how wouldi delete the old o.s on the hdd, to prevent any driver confilcts etc? because the hdd is going to be just for games while the ssd just for the o.s

Ideally, you relocate anything on the HDD to a different drive. Just temporarily.
Then you delete ALL partitions on the HDD, and format it.
Then you can move things back if desired.

Also, verify the SSD is the only thing in the boot order.

Solution

alright awesome ! ive heard that deleting and rewriting on ssd's is bad news, will i be fine? dont wanna ruin a brand new ssd lol

That thought is wildly overblown. Current consumer grade SSD's will last decades. You'd have to write hundreds of GB, every day, for several years to affect the life span.

thank goodness lol you were a great help thank you so much !

Depending on which Windows you have, normally with Windows 7 you would run Windows Easy Transfer to a Ext HDD to backup your data.
Then you could follow the Steam steps to move the games to the Ext HDD.
Download and wipe the HDD with DBAN.
Install SSD and unplug the HDD
Insert Windows DVD, install to SSD
Shut down and plug back in the HDD. When you restart you can format the HDD as D Drive
Now start the LONG process of all the applications, BUT YOU NEED TO NOT CLICK THROUGH THE PROMPTS!!!
You will now and forever need to READ EACH PROMPT and look for OPTION or the PATH it will install too
i.e. C:\Program Files(x86)\ThisGame and change the C:\ manually to D:\ so it uses the HDD instead of all the SSD space, EVERYTIME you install or update a program.
Remove whatever AV your using and go to www.filehippo.com and download AVIRA (I highly recommend), Comodo, Panda or AVG (AVAST! got hacked so I do NOT recommend them). and do a full system scan - this repeatedly has resolved alot of people issue relying on MS Essentials or have REPEATEDLY replied that it was Norton getting in the way.
Download Malwarebytes do a full system scan (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware) - this resolved almost ALL other similiar posts to date as most had Malware the AV didn't pick up.
Repeat the AV/Malware scans till the system comes up clean (some software 'add garbage')

Install all Windows Updates? Including options except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.
Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update

THEN FINALLY plug in the EXT HDD run the STEAM stepsbut again MAKE SURE your STEAM is pointing to D not C drive.
And then run Windows Easy Transfer to RESTORE your files, wallpaper, shortcuts, etc. REBOOT - DONE!
