Hi, I wonder why my pc is so slow while installing things. I have an SSHD with 1tb space and when I install games/programs etc. my HDD usage is at 100%.

That makes the computer super slow and I wonder why that happens, is it that the program uses the HDD to it's limits or what?

Hi there JustARandomPcGuy,

As you are facing some issues with your drive, it may be a good idea to back up the most crucial data that is stored on it until you sort it out.
Do you have high disk usage all the time, or just when installing programs?
It may be a good idea to start with testing the drive,as the other guys already suggested, and examine the S.M.A.R.T. report. If the drive seems to be in good condition, you can go to Windows Services and disable: Windows Search, Superfetch and BITS.

when installing things on an hdd it generally slows down, but if your hdd is more than 50% full this affect is even greater because it now has to sift through all the extra files. one thing that may help is making sure that your hdd is not fragmented by using the windows defragment tool, you should also run S.M.A.R.T. this checks to make sure your drive is not failing

you can also install windows on a separate partion on your hdd this can help to not slow down the rest of the computer as much.
