The build is rather fresh, only a few weeks. I went for an Samsung 850 EVO 250 gb and an old laptop drive, 500 gb WD blue 5400 rpm sata 2 3gb/s. The SSD is fine but the drive seems a bit slow sometimes when opening folders, the biggest issue being that when i play songs from it the audio stops for a bit quite frequently on both winamp and foobar. groove music seem to handle it better, but not perfect. When i play the same files from the ssd there's no problem.

Driver is the latest realtek from the motherboard official page, reinstalled. The drive had windows 7 installed on it when first conencted but i formatted it several times. Partitions are the same as factory though. Do i need extra codecs or repartition and delete possible windows 7 leftovers? Note that the drive was way faster when used on the laptop.

Solution
Hi there John.

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your WD Blue HDD.
First you should backup your important data, just to be on the safe side. This is necessary as neither you nor me can be sure if that's not an HDD problem. Once you've backed everything up, go ahead and download DLG (Data Lifeguard) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see if anything alarming pops-up: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows. If the tests don't show anything alarming, you should try the drive with a different SATA port and different cables, to see if the issue still persists.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
