Hi to all people at Toms hardware. After reading somewhere about wipe free space utility in CCleaner i decided to try it without having any specific reason.I chose the simplest 1 pass method.I didn't know it would take a lot of time and if i remember i stopped it before it finished. Then i realized my free space in hdd was reduced a lot (100 gb or something)on my hdd properties.

I read somewhere than in this case i must do it again and let it finish.I did that and now my free space was reported correctly.I have a wd 500gb disc and it was reported as half of it was empty wich was what i was expecting. After 2-3 weeks or something i noticed my hdd free space was significantly lower(50 gb less free space or so), without using this utility again and without adding any programs.

I run the wipe free space utility again 1 pass and after it finished my hdd free/used space was again reported correctly-half of it full half of it used.I kept cheking my hdd space and i noticed that every day my free space keeps reducing a few gbs every day.I did the final 1pass wipe 1 week ago and then it was 235 used 230 free, and now it is redused and reports as 246 used 219 free!!

I checked the internet for possible solutions and all i find is posts about mac users and how windows users dont have any of these problems i have.My rig is windows 7 64 ultimate with ever major update patch, asrock pro3 mobo, msi gtx 970 gpu, 8 gb ddr3 corsair ram, i5 2500k @4.4 gz cpu. My hard disc is a 2,5 year old western digital 500gb capacity drive. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance

Actually i identified the problem.

It had nothing to do with wipe free space.I used disc analyzer at ccleaner and found a HUGE amount of files using almost 200 gbytes of my hdd.I searched and i found that it was restore points for my pc.

I searched more the internet and i found the option in windows of how much percentage of your hdd capacity you want to be dedicated to restore points and it was 50%..I changed it to 10% and the problem went away.

The strange thing is i have the hdd 2 years and i havent noticed my free space...

The strange thing is i have the hdd 2 years and i havent noticed my free space getting lower each day and so on or its total used space being very large. I highly suspect that something changed the option to 50% and i am sure it wasn't me, maybe a windows update or omething.

Could it be ccleaner with wipe free space?I am 99% sure it was a coinsidence when i used ccleaner and noticing this thing that made me believe that ccleaner was the culprit.Anyway thanks for the reply mate.
