I bought a pc a while ago, and i noticed the hard drive was really slow.

HDD: Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM010 - hard drive - 1 TB - SATA 6Gb/s

Games run good but they load slowly and the pc boots slowly. If I load multiple things at the same time the system just crashes.

Here's what happens if I just open a game:

Idk know if the drive is just that slow and I will have to deal with it or not

I am using this pc for gaming.

Other specs:

CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce Gtx 1060 3gb MSI Gaming X
RAM: 8 gb

You can ask for more if you need more information.

Solution
Seems correct.

Raw read and write speed that manufacturers print out does not matter for 99% of the users since the way they use the computer they will never get to benefit from it.

As an example I can use my Nvme 960EVO as an example. On paper the write speed is 1600Mb/s. But often depending on what I do on the computer it can go as low as 9 - 12Mb/s

So it all depends on the work load. Try and copy 1 large file. Like a movie or something and then see the speed.

Yes, when I transfered a big file I got speeds up to 80 mbps. That doesn't explain why my games are so slow at loading.. And it's really hard to multitask. I was thinking of adding an Intel Optane memory module as my system is compatible for it. Also adding more ram may be a solution.

An optane drive should speed up the process after it has "learned" what programs/games you use the most.

Some games take a long time to load depending on the hard drive.

Take a game like World of Warships. Going from an HDD to an SSD cuts the loading time almost in half. For me atleast it did.
