I am gonna leave this post short and sweet because there isn't alot. I had my pc for 3 months and my HDD has started to act up. Its been spiking like crazy for no reason. I don't play no games on it, all of my games are on 500gb external SSD (Disk D) until I buy an SSD to go into my pc. It is slowing down my pc and it is frustrating having to wait for apps to open. I don't have no Malware or nothing because I checked all of that. So I have no clue what could it be. I went into getting my first pc (This PC) not knowing the difference between an SSD or and HDD.

Are you talking about the 500KB spikes in that picture? Have you tried to look into the apps tab and see which applications are using up disk activity (I/O)?

the "system" process keeps using the disk and making the active time go to 100%. When I download a game or update a game the launcher spikes the disk and slow the whole pc down. I am talking about the transfer rate and the active time spikes

Also when I close an Application the "system" process spikes and make the active time 100%. Or when I open Steam steam use the disk and make the Usage high

How old is this disk? Cause it seems the hardware is starting to have problems, if you are sure the disk is new and no hardware problem then
There are multiple things you can do:

1- Install process hacker and run it in Admin mode, and then look into the "Disk" tab and see what files are being read or written to specifically
2- Install hard disk sentinel and see if there are any disk problems or a history of errors and if it is totally healthy or not.

If you suspect there is a hardware problem you better take the disk offline as soon as possible and take it to a hard disk specialist.

I downloaded Hard Disk Sentinel and it said that my HDD was Excellent 100% and there were no errors. and I had this pc since Late August 2020 and the days it said it was used were accurate. So I am still lost. I am planning on getting a M.2 SSD and clone the OS that is on the HDD and put it on the SSD. The only thing that is on my HDD is the OS and my game Launchers and Google Chrome.
