Here is a typical setup.
Put your operating system and programs on the SSD.
Either use your HDD as a backup for your SSD...or use the HDD for data files like music....videos etc....and back things up some other way.

For every application,game,program you download,it will ask you where to store it,it wont just put itself on a random drive in a random folder.
Typically people only put windows on a SSD and thats it,everything rest goes to the HDD.

You can put some games on it too,since its a 500GB m.2.
But just to clear it up it will just give you shorter loading times,not more fps.

A good SATA ssd like Samsung 860 EVO and a m.2 are pretty similar.
How long will it take for your system to boot depends on a few more things,rather than only a fast ssd.
I recently read that having to many USB devices connected to your pc can slow down your boot times,and i tested it and it really is true.
Typically expect 15 seconds with a 860 evo

U linked the HDD 2 times,but the Seagate Baracuda is the most popular HDD on the planet i think so it wont fail you.

My advice,buy a 860 EVO 250GB,put just windows on it and call it a day.Its 40$
Store everything else from games,to pictures,to documents on the HDD.
