I've seen similar posts but nothing exactly like this, so I thought I'd just ask.

My Raid0 Array of 2 HDD's is sporadically working. The problem just started today, these HDD's are over 5 years old. My OS is on it's own drive, which is still working fine. My games are on the Array though, and when I boot up sometimes the icons aren't there and the Drive letter is also not showing up in My Computer. In the BIOS on startup, it shows it just fine.

Usually the computer will boot up and show the drive letter and I can even access it, but as soon as I run a checkdisk on it, it will stop halfway through and say windows can't read it, the drive vanishes not only in My PC but in the disk management as well.

I checked the cables but I don't have extra ones lying around, also it's hard af to plug them into the board since the sata plugs are under my gpu (great design lol). I've had this same exact problem with a SSD once before which I thought was lost but later found it still works. What's the most likely case here? Is it cables/sata ports? I'm afraid of rearranging them on the board too since it's a raid array, but if I have to I will.

I just tried CrystalDiskInfo but it doesn't seem to detect the raid. I set the raid up from my Asus mobo's utilities if I remember right, however the manual said to do it which I think was through the Bios as well.

I've been freeing up HDD space on that drive in question and I've been able to delete a lot of programs, it was under 10% free space, now it's around 20%. It seems to have stabalized itself but I'm also not trying to push it -- does this still sound like cables? I don't know how common it is for those to go out, I rarely get into the case and don't normally push them around or anything.
