I have a WD elements 3.0 1TB HDD. it worked fine until one day i opened it and then suddenly its taking ages to read. i cant even watch videos on the hard disk because it just keeps buffering. i tried to copy all my stuff to my pc but its REALLY slow too. i changed the cable and it worked fine again but then i restarted the computer and its back to being slow.. what should i do?

Hey there, iamsherlocked9.

Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having with your drive. Did you manage to get the data off of it while connected with a different cable? Did you try it with a USB cable shorter than 12", because longer ones may cause issues like this. I'd also suggest that you try it with a different computer/device to see if the same thing happens.
If you've managed to backup your data, I'd recommend that you donwload DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) and run both tests (Quick and Extended), to see what's the situation with the HDD. Here's how to do that: How to test a drive for problems using Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how everything goes.
