hdd to ssd

My HDD failed. I attempted to replace it with a SSD. I'm not computer savvy. I didn't make recovery disks. The HDD would no longer function. Is there anything I can do? I have a Toshiba Satellite C55-B5270.

Well anything that was on that HDD is gone, you can't get it back. I'm pretty sure that includes your OS, assuming you didn't make copies.

Do you have any disks that came w/ your computer? If you have no OS disc, you're going to have to purchase one. Starting with Windows 8, the installation key is coded in the UEFI, so you can't just borrow a disc from a friend and install as OEM machines don't have COA stickers.
