Hello!
I tested my HDD with HD Tune and the results were kinda bad. Is it possible to fix the HDD anymore or do anything that it comes faster?

HD Tune: WDC WD10EADS-22M2B0 Benchmark

Transfer Rate Minimum : 2.5 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 104.3 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 64.1 MB/sec
Access Time : 14.8 ms
Burst Rate : 103.1 MB/sec
CPU Usage : -1.0%

It would be nice to run the extended one as well.
Have you attached the drive to another port? It will not hurt to try that.

If you buy a new drive, you will be able to clone your current drive onto your new one. There are some third party cloning tools as well as some brand specific ones. In WD's case, this is Acronis True Image WD ediition: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=q4OTJK

If you want to change your OS drive, my suggestion would be to either get an SSD or aim at 7200 RPM hard drive.
You can take a look at WD Black. It is a performance oriented drive with dual processor and has 5 years of limited warranty: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=DNSvaQ

Was the system completely idle during the testing process? Other tasks using the hard drive will cause the speed to drop considerably - this is an unavoidable consequence of how hard drives work. With a Caviar Green drive (which I believe yours is), this will be particularly noticeable as they are not designed for high performance but rather to use as little power as possible. ("Green" drives aren't really suitable for general-purpose usage such as running an OS or applications; they're more geared up for bulk data storage such as video files.)

Hi there Daniel Hadaya,

Sorry that you are facing some issues with your WD drive. 🙁
I believe it may be a good idea to back up the crucial data stored on the drive until you sort this out. You need to back up the data that you can't afford to loose, even when the drive operates perfectly fine.
I believe this is your OS drive right? If this is the case, I would agree with molletts and say that WD Greens may not be the best pick for OS drives due to their power saving features.

Apart from that, you can try several things:
- Could you provide a screenshot of the Health tab of the tool that you've used. You've provided all of them except for this one. Also, I believe it would be a good idea to test the drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool(both short and extended tests): http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=jokxKk
- Another thing you can do is to attach the drive to a different port with different SATA and power cables.

Let me know how this goes,
D_Know_WD :)

@molletts Thanks for the fast reply, yes the system was in idle.

@D_Know_WD Thank you for the long and informative reply also! This hard drive came with the PC when I bought it, so it is not build by me. And both are right, it is caviar green one. The health tab does not show anything (I used HD Tune lite). I used the WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool, I made the quick test, and everything was OK, I still haven't made the extended one. Changing SATA and power cables did not help either. I have used this hard drive for gaming, editing videos and saving them etc. So maybe I should buy an external HDD for those things.
If I buy a new drive, can I transfer the OS to it also?

Thank you very much

E: I forgot to mention also that the Hard Drive is ~ 5 years old that's when I bought the PC

Thank you very much for your answer! I made a order from our local PC hardware store the 1 TB Western Digital Black (WD1003FZEX) for 80€.
This will for sure fix the problems, just from looking the speed comparisons, you can see how much better it is. I will keep the green drive for backups, and other not so important things, maybe I should buy a blue or another black also for the backup just in case that the current green crashes etc.

So thank you again @D_Know_WD for your very good and helpful answers, they just made my life so much easier.
Love and peace!
