So I bought a brand new western digital 1tb sata 3 hdd.
When I run windows 10, it shows up in diskpart ( but says 0b for the size)
and it shows up in disk maintenance as not initalized

I try to initialize it to GPT but I get this error
"the specified disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum size required for GPT disks"

I try to initialize to MBR but get this error
"the system cannot find the file specified"

I tried to convert it to GPT in diskpart and it gave me an I/O error

I tried using different sata cables and different sata ports on my mobo to no avail.

Not sure what other steps to take.

Hey there, @CAMILOGOD!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with this WD HDD of yours! 🙁 I suspect that it might be corrupted. Have you tried initializing it from another PC as well? How does the HDD appear there? I'd also strongly recommend running the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows. It will help us determine the health and SMART data of your hard drive. I'd also advise you to check the warranty of the product on our website. If it's unable to get initialized or fails any of the tests, I'd advise you to get in touch with the reseller's customer support and replace the WD HDD.

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting & results, though!
