I have a hard drive that won't power on whenever I plug it in to my computer. No noise, nothing like that. The computer doesn't detect it .I've tried it in multiple computers and it still doesn't work. It was working until recently and there is nothing on it except an installation of windows 8 that is not activated. Can this be fixed or do I need a new drive?

I'm a noob so sorry if I don't know much.

Ahhh.... u done everything reasonable, there is no magic, it sounds DEAD. Every mechanical things will die eventually.

If you have critical data to retrieve, spend the $$ contracting a recovery service.

A drive like this is not worth to try to revive it to be reused. It died for a reason.
