[SOLVED] HDM2 vs GDDR5 - Radeon vs Nvidia

Hello everyone!

Recently i lost my 2080ti due to bad creation of Asus.

Since i got a refund i started looking some GPU's to buy,

I've stumbled across Radeon VII 16G HBM2

I did some research and saw that actual HB Memory is better and faster then GDDR5 i wanted to see with you all,

What do you think about those two and the Radeon GPU it self?

I would like to know some personal opinions not copy paste opinions from websites,

Also just to mention I'm planning to use it strictly for gaming not rendering,designing etc etc.

What are the specs for the system you would install this GPU in to?

I have a Radeon VII and I like it a lot. I use it for 4K gaming. Performance is excellent, but it gets hots and draws a lot of power from the PSU.

The Radeon vii performs around an rtx 2080 in games.

The radeon lacks rtx and only comes with 1 cooler design, however it does have the 16gb of ultra fast hbm2.

Btw, rtx2080 and 2080ti have gddr6.

What resolution are you gaming at? You may be able to save some money and still get great performance with alternate GPUs.

By the way, the Radeon Vii was a low production run of repurposed AMD work GPUs, so i don;t believe they are still made.

A Radeon VII would be massive overkill for that. What is your budget and from where do you order PC parts?

Something like an AMD RX5700/5700xt or RTX2060/super would be perfect for that.

Well the budget is 2080ti refund i received, around 1500 euros

By the way, the Radeon Vii was a low production run of repurposed AMD work GPUs, so i don;t believe they are still made.

We actually still have them the price is around 750 euros

Agreed. Even a Vega 56 or Vega 64 would perform well.

I might add, you can turn an RX5700 into an RX5700xt with just a little bios flashing, although this is a pain and will increase heat output and power consumption. That gives you very close to RTX2070super/2080 performance for just 360 euro.

Just dont go for a single fan AMD or Nvidia card at this pricepoint as the coolers will not be great.

Yeah i was thinking the same way, ofc without the clocking stuff that is really not for me, im a huge bummer for that stuff i mean since i have some budget for now i would like to have something long term, dont want to buy 2080ti again since i really do not want to survive another heartattack when something happends to it So i might go for either Radeon 70 or 2070 for some longer term solutions.
