Hi there,

I currently have a HP Omen 15-ax221tx, and am planning to get an external monitor like the Acer KG241QA (Might be named different in other regions) which supports 144hz over HDMI as it has HDMI 2.0 and have been confirmed by Acer themselves. However, considering that my laptop is pretty old, it most probably only has HDMI 1.3/1.4 (Wasn't able to find the exact HDMI version for this laptop online). So my question is, when I connect the laptop to the monitor over HDMI, will it display at 144hz, or will it be capped at 120hz? A lot of sellers told me the latter but some threads online and over here at Tom's Hardware said that it should work.

A little confused now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

Solution
HDMI 1.4 can support 144 Hz over HDMI. However sometimes on laptops it can be limited to 120 Hz by the limitations of Intel graphics, so it's uncertain in your situation.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I have both Intel and Nvidea on my laptop, with the Nvidea being the GTX 1050Ti . Does this make any difference on whether my laptop will be able to support the 144hz?
