HDMI 2.1 to my gtx 1080 only gives me 60hz.

I know the port is HDMI 2.0a, but shouldn't it still support 144hz at 1080p? And yes my monitor is 144hz at 1080p.

Monitor is 1080p and 144hz, I know the hdmi port on the 1080 is hdmi 2.0b, but doesn't that support 1080p at 144hz? is it the mixing of 2.0b and 2.1? Or is it windows 10 being stupid?

What monitor is it? Most don't support 1080p@144hz through HDMI they use dual link DVI or displayport for the higher refresh rates and their HDMI ports only support 1080p@60Hz.
