Recently my TV has not been receiving a signal from my computer using the HDMI cable and adapter I have. I have tested both HDMI ports on the TV and they both work when hooked up to my satellite and DVD player. The HDMI cables are also good. The DVI-D port from my graphics card works when I hook it to another DVI-D port on an actual computer monitor. The adapter is 3+ years old which has led me to believe it's bad. I have been using the adapter and HDMI cable with this tv before without any problems. The graphics card I have is a GeForce 550 that is up to date.

Is there anything else I should check before ordering a new DVI-D to HDMI adapter?

Thanks,

Dalton

Hmm......
On your desktop right click and then click screen resolution
from there click the button on the right that says identify
If this doesnt work check on your TV if you are currectly using the right input.

When I plugged the Adapter into the second DVI-D port and to my TV my computer does not detect another input or source even with the identify tool, I tried both HDMI ports on the tv.

I believe that these adaptors are not working really well (due to the fact that HDMI transfers image and sound)(dvi-d transfers only image).Better buy a cable with one end DVI-D and the other HDMI.Without adaptor

Okay that's the kind of new adapter I was looking at. The one I was using was an old Nvidia one that screws into the DVI-D port and then you connect an HDMI cable to it. It did transfer sound and image to my TV.

Any particular brand that's good for the money?

Ehmmm I dont think there is a quality difference. They are all cables.Get a size that suits you (HDMI to DVI-D cable of course),the cheapest one the retailer has.
