Ok, this is super simple actually and I have had this happen before with a home theater system. So, you will need to replace the cable most likely, and once that happens and it still doesn't work, then other options will need to be looked at. If you would keep us posted on this please, I would appreciate it, and I do hope it is something as simple as replacing the cable.

It really depends on where you bought the cable. I tend to stay away from Monster branded cables because they are overpriced for what they are, but don't go out and buy something super cheap either. Personally, I like my cable to have gold plated connectors instead of nickel. I actually order my HDMI cables from newegg as you can get them from a brand called Kaybles (in fact, my 18 footer is from them and works great, good quality, cable is nicely insulated) and they are reasonably priced.
