Today i bought Dell s2240l.When i connected it with HDMI cable,it shows no VGA detected going for sleep in 5min.I have no name HDMi cable which 1.5m long. When i connected it with VGA its working fine..My GPU is Sapphire HD 6670 1GB ddr5..

And I'm also experiencing huge fps drop while playing Counter strike about 40-100fps(mostly at 40-50 and rarely 100 ) even at 1024 x 768 and 1280 x 720 resolution and getting same fps even at 1920 x 1080(constant 40-50fps) ...Is this because of the VGA connectivity or with AMD catalyst control settings..My GPU settings are default values nothing changed...Do i need to change any settings in the AMD control panel ?

Solution
Strange, Do you have any other HDMI devices to test it on(maybe a tv)?

You frame rate may be limited by the rest of the system. What else are you running(cpu/memory)?

Yes,there is option in the monitor menu shows AUTO,VGA and HDMI....I changed it to HDMI and connected the HDMI cable but same problem exists..

Yeah i know that 6670 is a low end card..But it performing bad at 1024 x 768 normal screen and 1280 x 720 wide screen....

No.Will this be anything related with the cable length? Someone who is using s2240l through HDMI sure knows the trick...

Athlon II x3 445 and 4gb RAM 1333Mhz..But with my old crt monitor at 1024 x 768 i used to get 170-300fps in Counter strike with fps_override 1 and 100fps constant with fps_override 0....

I see no reason you would have a drop in performance.

You can maybe check the scaling options in CCC to make sure the screen is doing the scaling(crt screens handed different resolutions differently then the newer ones, but I have never seem it be a performance issue in the past.).

I do not have that screen, but have never seen an HDMI cable flat out not work.

I don't see any scaling option in CCC running 13.2 version...May be because i'm using VGA?

Looks like its the problem with GPU's HDMI port..When i connected my monitor to laptop's HDMI it worked...

I changed the Settings in CCC from balanced to high performance and now i'm getting constant 100fps in cs.. 🙂

And will try using DVI-HDMI converter...Will i get any difference in quality with HDMI compare VGA ?

I'm also experiencing Blurness while gaming, may be coz of 7ms and 60hz RR...

You may be seeing ghosting. All LCD screens even the fastest have some form of it when compared to an old CRT screen.

DVI and HDMI are digital signals so should look a bit[or lots depending on who you ask, in my tests, it was a bit better. DVI/HDMI also have HDCP for protected<BluRay> video playback, while VGA does not] better(most noticeable on TEXT or small details).

Okay.!!

So Ghosting can't be eliminated ? Is this because of response time ?
My monitor description says 14ms typical and 7ms GTG.. So its using 7ms or 14ms ? (I have no idea about this 🙂 )

Ghosting seems to always be present on LCD(but honestly, you will get used to it and not even notice it later.)

Now the response time is a bit more complex.

It is NOT always the same, it actually varies with the colors being displayed. Also something called overdrive helps to speed it up because the screens can go to a certain color faster(so sometimes lets say(I do not remember the exact color) you want to go from red to blue it may actually go red-black-blue because it can do it faster). You will actually see it more on some colors then other.

Over driving also has negative effects that cause it to show strange artifacts(for PVA screens it makes something called inverted/inverse ghosting. It is very strange light colors ghost back and not the normal light white/grey).

Ok..That link is too complicated for me to understand... ;-)

My Dell default settings are :
Brightness-75 (i changed it to 60)
Contrast -75 (i changed it to 70)
Color preset - RGB
Image Enhance - off

Changing anything in the display properties help reduce ghosting or better leave it default...

Alright..
