Hello and thank you for any Input you can provide, I will try to be as detailed as I possibly can.
OK.... I am using a Compaq Presarion SR1630NX Tower.
SPECS:
Upgraded PSU
Windows 7 Ultimate.... Upgraded from XP SP-3
32 Bit
3Gb RAM..... 2 more gigs than factory.
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.2 GHz.... Upgraded from original.
Integrated Graphics: ATI Radeon Express 200
PCI-E Slot: 1024 MB DDR3 GeForce 8400 GS Graphics Card.

My problem is, I do not have any audio when I use the HDMI output. The graphics are fine and dandy But no sound. The play back devices show sound is working but only with the Realtek AC97 sound drive for the system, not the HD Audio drive for the graphics card. Ive installed the driver from the factory provided EVGA GeForce disk and I have even CLEAN installed the latest 335.23 drive from Nvidia. When it gives you the list of drivers its installing (where you can tick clean install) I do not see in that list any audio drivers included just things drivers for the graphics. THIS CARD DOES NOT TAKE S/PDIF CABLE...!!! In BIOS I have tried disabling, automatic, and enable the "on board sound" and nothing is working.

Now I do have another tower with the same graphics card THAT IS WORKING...
SPECS FOR WORKING TOWER:
Compaq Presario SR1950NX Home Media Edition
Windows 7 Ultimate... Also Upgraded from XP SP-3
32 Bit
4Gb RAM.... Upgraded from 1Gb
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+ 2.2 GHz.... Upgraded from original.
Integrated Graphics: By, nVidia
PCI-E Slot: 1024 MB DDR3 GeForce 8400 GS Graphics Card.

Please help... Thank you in advance..!!!

No it is not an option in the playback devises. only Speakers, and realtek Digital output. not sure what you mean by choosing default... Right now it is currently running by HDMI, however nVidia is not installing the audio drivers in its installation.

Yes.... then it just shows me that no audio drivers are installed. then ive even clean installed nVidia drivers after that and still no hd audio in playback devices. and in Device manager it only shows realtek AC'97 audio

That GPU was released in December of 2007. From what I see Nvidia had nothing built into those old cards for audio. Some vendors put an HDMI connector on and would "cheat" it to work; with a wire going from the card(GPU) to the S/PDIF connection on the motherboard.

But you say you have no S/PDIF, weird...

There is audio... i have THE SAME card in my other tower which is listed and no s/pdif wire needed in that hdmi slot to hdmi works just fine... graphics and sound.

Ok sorry for the late reply on this, but if this helps anyone out here it goes... The card was NOT compatible for the MB. SMH but even though its late thanks to everyone who tried to help...
