HDMI or Display Port. Does it matter?

My graphics card (Nvidia GTX 1060) has three Display Port outputs and an HDMI output. I have two identical monitors, Dell U2515H, which have both HDMI and Display Port inputs. The native resolution of the Dell is 2560 x 1440. The graphics board can achieve that resolution via either output. One connection will be via Display Port.

Is there any reason to choose Display Port over HDMI or vice versa, for the connection to the second monitor?

Thanks. If I were trying to decide which to purchase those reasons would lead me towards DP. However, in my case I have both available and can use either at the monitor's native resolution.

The (somewhat trivial) things swaying my decision are:

1. The monitor comes with a 6' Display Port cable which is too short for one of the monitors so I'd have to purchase one. Whereas I have extra HDMI cables sitting around that would fit.

2. I have a Display Port output going to one monitor and both a Display Port output and an HDMI output going to two inputs of the second monitor. I was playing with the Nvidia control panel and when I'd switch between the first monitor (always DP) and the the second monitor using the DP input the display looked the same. However, when I'd switch between the first monitor and the second monitor using the HDMI input to the second monitor the display would shift slightly. I don't know if that would make a real world difference when I'm not making A/B comparisons. But that's making me think I should stick with the same interface.
