My current monitor is the ASUS VS278Q-P, https://www.asus.com/us/Commercial-Monitors/VS278QP/, and I need to get a new HDMI cord since the one I've been using, http://frys.com/product/6831936?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG, no longer displays an image when connected. My question is, should I stick with HDMI? or switch to DisplayPort? From what I think I understand, DisplayPort is mainly used for 4K resolutions, right? Also, in the future, I'm thinking about getting a 1440p monitor but, HDMI should still be ok for that, right? The HDMI cable I'm thinking of getting is http://frys.com/product/6832536?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Also, if you guys can give me info on HDMI and DisplayPort that would be great

both should work, if you see HDMI 2.0 then it will go 4k 60 fps also.
I like Display connectors as it feels a bit less fragile.
no reason to go any way here. When you use 2 screens is better to have 1 DP and 1 HDMI for easier separation in software

I agree 100%. Do not buy a very expensive "gold platted" cable or anything like that. Big box stores like Best Buy will totally rip you off on cable prices.
