Question HDMI output to USB-C input cable

Hi,

I have notebook with HDMI output only and free USB-C input on my display (LG 29UM69G). I want to connect my notebook to this display using HDMI to USB-C cable. Can I use any HDMI to USB-C cable? Does it even work this way (HDMI output) or all cables are only one direction USB-C to HDMI?
I need to buy one and I don't want to waste time and money for returns and testing different ones.

The monitor you have has an HDMI input, why not use that? If your laptop had a Type-C port(thunderbolt and not just power/charging) then you would've been able to work with a Belkin type-C cable from laptop to monitor.

USB-C is last one free, I use HDMI and DP for 2 other computers. My laptop don't have USB-C Alt mode to use as video source, HDMI is only option.
