HDMI port on RCA tv won't work with HDMI switch

My RCA 46" tv model 46C45RQ has an HDMI port that will not work with a HDMI switch plugged into it. My tv has 2 HDMI ports.
1 port is HDMI/DVI, the other port is HDMI/ARC.The HDMI switch works fine in the HDMI/ARC port, but not in the HDMI/DVI port.
I need to use the switch in the HDMI/DVI port, because the HDMI/ARC port is dedicated to my sound bar.
The HDMI switch is fine because it worked in another tv I have.
I need to use a switch because I need more HDMI ports since there are only 2 on the tv. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS- the HDMI/DVI port works fine when the HDMI cable from DirecTV is plugged into it.
