Hdmi port spark computer reset

It is as the title says while trying to connect my laptop to my tv the hdmi on the laptop sparked and the laptop reset. my laptop and my tv are perfectly fine, but I'm wondering is this my laptop or the HDMI plug itself. Thanks for reading

Not sure what your question is. If the laptop is fine, what is the question? The system rebooted because of a power issue, both the port and the motherboard are involved there. Has it happened before and happened again? Could have just been a bad connection or some static discharge from you.

Firstly no it hasn't happened again I didn't try it again nor has it ever happened before (and I connect my laptop to my tv frequently). Secondly my question was do I need to replace my HDMI cable or is it something with my laptop.

If it only happened once, you don't need to replace anything. You could have just pushed in the connection in some way that created a short that one time. If you are worried about something, start with a new cable, you can get a new HDMI cable for about $5 online.
