What special incantation must be muttered to get Windows 10 (all updates applied) to recognize the HDMI port?

(Asus Z97 mobo, main display is connected to discrete NVIDIA, trying to use the HDMI to connect to projector with Intel graphics. Yes multimonitor is enabled in BIOS.)

I got what you said the first time. i just want to make sure that your drivers are up to date. When you hit Windows key + P, did anything pop up? Also, can you hook up the projector to your discrete card? You want to rule out if it is a cable or projector issue.
Perhaps my question was unclear. I am trying - desperately - to hook up a projector using the hdmi port. To date all efforts have been unsuccessful. (Display not recognized.) My main display is powered by discrete graphics (NVIDIA card) and I wish to use Intel graphics for the projector (Epson). I hope that is clear.

I have looked for answers on the web and found this is not an uncommon problem but so far none of the suggested solutions has been of any help to me.

Appreciate any and all suggestions.
