HDMI problem w/ monitor or video card

2333HD.. is this a rare problem? i really dont want to return this thing cuz i bought it from costco and the freaking thing sold fast.. most likely of i ask for an exchange theyll just be giving a refund.. i paid 290.74 USD total.. 250$ w/o tax and california waste disposal law..

2333HD's native res = 1920 x 1080 (16:9 aspect ratio)

When connected via HDMI either HDMI port 1 or 2.. my pc outputs black bars all over the screen when set to its native resolution of 1920x1080!.. but anything lower than that like 1680 x 1050, fills in the screen well, but i dont want to run it anything less than its native resolution..

any ideas on what i should do? seems to be a rare problem

its looks very ugly when the screen gets compressed like this

I really would really love the Single Cable solution of the HDMI for video and sound 🙁

First, it might be important to know that 1920x1080 is the format for BluRay/HD playback. Not typically supported as a resolution for computer applications, such as games and productivity software. They usually support 1900x1200, 1680x1050, 1440x900...

That being said, if you put your video card in the 1980x1080, the software application is displayed at 1680x1050 (not capable of exceeding max screen resolution), therefore placing black spacing above and below to fill the rest of the screen space. But when you watch the movie that is set to be diplayed at the higher resolution (1980x1080), it fills the screen.

My suggestion would be to look in the software setup for your video card to see if you can set it to 1680x1050 for general use and find an option to select, that will enable the card to switch to 1980x1080 automatically, when it detects BluRay/HD viseo playback. (Or find a program that will)

My complaint as of recently, is that manufactures of these monitors do not make it completely obvious and apparent that some monitors are designed to support video playback, as opposed to actual computer usage (limited by the resolution support). The video and software formats differ slightly in the resolution formats. Which, in my opinion could cause confusion in a persons purchase. (Not implying you did this OP'er)

James thankyou very much for the ideas and suggestions.. but as for games.. i have no problem that the games are set to 1920x1080 w/ problems.. "circles are circles" (meaning the resolution is supported)

Many have also said that games dont support this resolution but as early as HALF LIFE 2.. games have pretty much been supporting 16:9.. but i could be wrong..

1920x1080 playable pc games so far w/o any distortion from screen issues regarding 16:9/1920 x 1080 :

Red Alert 3
FEAR 2 demo
Call of Duty 4
Half Life 2 Ep 1 and 2
Burnout Paradise
Mirror's Edge

I will be trying other games as well in a few more weeks just to see if the 16:9 in pc games really bothers ppl by having some issues.. i havent found one yet... but maybe.. just maybe.. next week.. hehehe

and im not running a "software application" i believe.. i understand what u mean.. but i think if i set the pc out put resolution to 1920x1080.. it should do a proper pixel mapping... VGA works perfect.. it does 1920x1080 that fits the whole screen.. (1:1 pixel mapped).. i have yet to try the DVI-D single link for i do not have a cable.. also.. i have no other way of testing the HDMI inputs of the monitor for i do not have any device like the ps3 or blu ray players or etc.. for i dont really have money now 🙁

as for the video and playbacks that u mentioned earlier, i cant seem to understand.. really sorry.. low iq here.. 🙁

i would understand if ever i set a 1680x1050 res output from my pc to a 1920x1080 monitor then have black bars all around (if it does 1:1 pixel mapping) but i cannot yet fully understand why a 1920x1080 pc output have a "black bars all-around" in a 920x1080 monitor.. also i believe u cannot adjust this manually easily.. some options seem to be disabled using digital inputs/outputs (DVI or HDMI).. but options will be present with VGA (analog)..

(using VGA right now w/o problems but really would love to use HDMI properly )

if u want to connect a monitor and a computer, specifically this model and the T260HD.. using an HDMI cable

Go to the monitor's OSD's menu and find the HDMI input and change it in "EDIT" to "PC"..

the freaking black bars all around will disappear and finally show perfect mapping

Go to the monitor's OSD's menu and find the HDMI input within the options and change it in "EDIT" to "PC"..

INPUT>EDIT NAME>HDMI (1 or 2 depending on where u placed the input) > choose PC

(i have learned the usefulness of a user's manual! LOL)

the freaking black bars all around will disappear and finally show perfect mapping
