Dear all,

This question has been asked several times around the web, however, the provided answers don't function for me.

My Desktop is linked through an HDMI cable on a Panasonic P42ST60 for years.

For years everything was going fine, and today... No sound.

Don't worry, I checked the sound level is fine both on TV and on the desktop.

Drivers are up to date.

I went in "sound" and put as Default the AMD HDMI Output as default.

I turned off all other devices, turned them on, switched between the default sound devices and so on... Nothing to do, it doesn't function.

I also tried with other HDMI cables that function on other devices (Blu Ray for example).

I have a ATI 5870.

Can you please help me? How come for years everything was fine and now, out of a sudden, the sound disappeared?

Thank you in advance.

Solution
Stick another HDMI device with speakers on the computer and see if it gets sound, also test another HDMI device on the same port on the TV and also on others, make sure that is working or not. Need to rule out where the issue is coming from.
Beautiful TV!

Right click the volume icon located in the lower right (by default), in your ash tray. You want to select "Playback devices". What's on that list? If S/PDIF is one of them, disable it by right clicking it. You may have to restart your computer.

And also, for future problems you may encounter. Remember that HDMI is all digital, meaning it either works or it doesn't, there is no inbetween.

All the best!

Hi Suzuki, Hang the 9,

Thank you, a very beautiful TV indeed! Definitely Worths it, far superior than same price LED TV.

Anyway it was a driver problem. The config is rather old 2010? Actually the problem was that I installed W10 upon W7. Then because my hardware is not compatible with W10 I had to revert to W7 and I didn't know that it actually uninstall your drivers...

As easy as that...

Thank you for your support.

You skipped over that step, changing the operating system is not "all of a sudden the sound disappeared" LOL. It's like saying "I had light in my room then it just got dark for no reason" then when people say to try a new bulb you say "I did turn off the electricity to the house" ;)

Haha

Well, not so... Because I reinstalled W7 and it functionned some days, up to when, probably, a specific Windows update has been installed requiring the latest drivers ;)
