I've just bought a new pc and installed windows 7 on it. The PC was custom built by CCL computers. It's an AMD A-8 7650k with Radeon R7. When setting up I used a VGA to my display the computer on my TV but I want to change it to my HDMI cable. However I plugged my HDMI cable into the TV from my computer and the screen does show up on the HDMI input but it isn't HD or at least doesn't look it. Is it the monitor or the hdmi cable or something else? Also when I go on playback devices on the sound settings it says there is no HDMI plugged in.

Thanks :)

Well for a start what is the resolution of your TV? Also what resolution is your computer set to. You can check this by right clicking on your desktop and selecting screen resolution.
Also do your have the latest R7 drivers installed. Can be found here .. http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

Also all HDMI cables are equal. If they work they are transmitting at HD level. If there not then they wont display anything.

Thanks for the link. On screen resolution it says the display is Generic PnP Monitor on Standard VGA graphics adapter and the resolution is 1280 x 720

Standard VGA? Hmm, you've forgotten to install graphics drivers. Windows will install most things but if you want to get most out of your graphics card, install drivers from AMD.

www.AMD.com

If you need help which driver let us know.

So I realised my computer came with a disc and the drivers have installed now but my screen still doesn't look HD at all. The screen resolution page now says DSG TV and the resolution is 1980 x 1080. What I'm using as a monitor is a LOGIK TV could that be the problem? It's 22' but I bought it a couple of years ago not intending it to be a PC monitor it is HD ready though as I've played PS3 on it in HD.

Thanks

I've got everything setup the resolution is fine it's just the quality of the picture is poor. Its's very fuzzy and undefined any fixes for this or is it the TV?

The resolution is at 60hz and if I move it down it gets worse

Ok so the PC end is fine. Now we'll look at your HDMI cable and TV.

There's a chance the HDMI cable can be faulty, it wouldn't be the first but i'd look at your TV menu settings first, like HDMI inputs that could be set to PC if its available or playing around with overscan.

Try that and what is your TV? I'll have a look through the manual as well.

It's a LOGIK L24FE13 I've order a new HDMI cable that should arrive tomorrow so I'll see tomorrow if it is. The only other cable I have would be a HDMI to YPBPR but I'm not sure how I can get it to that. The settings aren't very extensive and there's only one thing refering to HDMI and that's something called HDMI CEC but that makes no difference on or off or at least not that I've seen

HDMI either works, or doesn't work - no inbetween.

Your displays max resolution is: 720p (HD)

OP, have you tried enabling game mode? It could also be called PC mode, it depends on the brand and model. You'll find this setting in your picture or video menu. Also make sure you're not in 16:9 mode, you lose 1:1 pixel mapping, which creates blur.

All the best!

Thanks for stepping in :)

I read through that thread and I don't really know how I would apply to my situation as you said I'm not sure how he ended up fixing it. There's I'm not in 16:9 I'm in 'Auto' but what ever aspect I put it to it doesn't improve

Hmm... There appears to be two TV's with the same model #, one is 720p and the other is 1080p. Unless I missed something,a s it was just a quick Google search. Probably a slight difference in model # that I missed. Anyways, what exactly is it that's looking bad on your screen? A screenshot would be great. Have you tried calibrating your TV? Windows has it built in, just use type calibrate in the Windows search bar or control panel and you'll find it. Also, since you didn't answer this one. Look for a game mode/PC mode, this may improve picture quality when using your TV with a PC. Auto is likely 16:9, by default they ship all TV's (99%) in 16:9, which is not 1:1 pixel mapping, the consumer has to change it to screen fit (depending on brand) themselves after purchase.

There's no game/pc mode, the settings on this TV are rather minimal. How do I send a picture?
