I'm experiencing a persistent HDMI signal issue when my PC is connected to my TV via HDMI. This only happens on my TV (not on any monitor) and occurs specifically after a cold shutdown. Here’s the situation:

  1. Signal Loss Timing: When I power on the PC from a cold shutdown, everything displays fine up until the Windows login screen, at which point the HDMI signal suddenly drops, and the screen goes black, and the TV displays No Signal.
  2. Temporary Fix: To restore the HDMI signal, I have to go through a specific sequence of disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable:
    • First, I disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV and reconnect it.
    • Then, I unplug the HDMI from the GPU on my PC and plug it back in.
    • Finally, I replug the HDMI on the TV once more, which restores the signal and allows me to log in.
This process is required each time I boot up from a cold shutdown, and it only occurs with the TV, not with monitors.

Setup Details:
  • PC connected to TV via HDMI
  • Issue only occurs after a cold shutdown (not during restarts or when waking from sleep)
Question: Has anyone experienced a similar HDMI signal drop issue when connecting a PC to a TV? Any suggestions to maintain the signal without reconnecting the HDMI each time I boot up?

Perhaps its related to the settings on your GPU. What Display Resolution and Refresh Rate is the GPU set at, and is this the same as the TV's native resolution and refresh rate? Most TV's expect a signal at the panel's native resolution e.g. 4K and a 60Hz refresh rate so your TV may have difficulty adjusting to a signal that is not initially at that rate and can't respond quickly enough to a signal at a different rate, especially the refresh rate. Also, some TV's have an option for Quick Start or something like that which maintains the electronics at a more ready state (although it uses a few watts more power when its off) which may help since you experience the problem mostly at a cold shutdown.
