My Pavilion a6300f PC used an Nvidia 7100 video card. This was not compatible with Windows 10, so I upgraded to GeForce 8400gs. Everything works fine but the sound. I believe when I first upgraded, the sound on HDMI was working fine. Then I updated all drivers and Windows did its updates. I found my headset did not work. After searching and trying different things I went into the Bios and changed my on-board speakers from auto to enabled. Yeah, my headset works! Then I tried to play a video and there is no sound coming through my monitor speakers (WinBook 32MO) using the HDMI cable. I do have sound on the jack for portable speakers on the computer itself using the plug in speakers on the Realtek system. Why can't I get the HDMI cable to work again???? I have tried uninstalling all sound drivers and reinstalling, I have tried every other suggestion I can find on the Windows 10 forum. Changing the BIOS back does not help. I don't know if this is a Windows problem, or an Nvidia problem, or an HP problem, or just my error someplace. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Thank you for making time to respond. This is not an option as Windows does not recognize that I have an HDMI connection! The only options I have under sound in control panel is NVidia HD or Realtek HD. Under the Realtek HD manager I have only the standard Realtek sound options of Headphones, HD mixer (which has nothing plugged in and therefore is not an option) or Plug in speakers. No HDMI option. Under NVidia control panel, no HDMI connection either. All NVidia recognizes under the display is a non-PNP generic monitor, not the PnP HD WinBook 32MO monitor it is connected to. Connecting via DVI cable, it recognizes the monitor and gives me the high resolution it is capable of, but there is no sound unless I plug in my small "antique" computer speakers to the jack on the old sound card. There is no sound connection on the NVidia 8400gs interface. Only DVI, VGA, and HDMI. Any additional help is appreciatd

Same issue. I just went with DVI and said I am tired of fiddling with it. When I move and set up my system again, I will give it another shot, but I gave up.
