Hdmi splitter or converter?

My graphics card is an MSI R9 390 and it only has 1 HDMI connection that is already being used by a monitor. I couldn't find another monitor within a decent price range and with all the features i wanted that had a DVI-D or Display port connection. Should I get an HDMI splitter and would it even work? or should I just get a display port to HDMI converter.

Dp to HDMI your best option by far mate.
An HDMI spiltter would at best give the same image on bothvscreens (if it worked at all)
