Hi I am not sure if this is the proper thread, however I was wondering what is required in a pc build to be HDMI compatible. I have one of the adapters from a dell pc. Was just curious if this motherboard and cpu would support HDMI or what do i need if they dont

Ok wel you do not have HDMI support on your motherboard so you will not be able to use a traditional HDMI cable you can get a DVI to HDMI cable but it wont carry sound so kinda pointless. What you need to get is a video card that has a HDMI output on it. Depending on what your needs are you can find a PCI card with HDMI for around $50. And still use whatever graphics card you have now.

There is also a DVI to HDMI that carries audio but everytime you want to use it you will have to switch the wires on your sound card everytime.

Thats a decent card and for the price it will perform nicely just make sure you get the one with integrated HDMI on it.

You might want to look at the 5770 as well - the HDMI ports on the video cards also support HDMI audio output (which is not the case on many of the HDMI outputs on other cards) IIRC all 5xxx series cards support audio on the HDMI outputs but not positive (I do know for sure that my Sapphire 5770 supports up to 7.1 audio through the cards HDMI output as well as HDMI video.
