I have no idea what the HDMI on my Laptop is and yes i do use a laptop which doesnt have a Displayport but only HDMI output, any way that i can get 144hz 1440p on my acer predator that i ordered yesterday.....

Solution
It doesn't matter what version of HDMI you have, there are no HDMI to DisplayPort converters that can get more than 1080p 120 Hz or 1440p 60 Hz.
If you want to get 144Hz @ 1440p out of the HDMI port then your laptop needs to have HDMI 2.0 or newer port. If it's older, e.g HDMI 1.3 - 1.4b then most you can get is 75 Hz @ 1440p.

(scroll down a bit to the 2nd spreadsheet: "Refresh Frequency Limits for HDR10 Video")

HDMI port version is usually written in the manual or the specs of the laptop.

I know that hdmi dose not support 144hz so the will not be any chance of that working but I am sure that htmi support 1440p but you will just have to check the wire because the wire might not be supported

Not sure where you get your info though but HDMI 2.0 can support up to 240 Hz on 1080p. For 240 Hz @ 1440p, you'll need HDMI 2.1 and for same refresh rate @ 4K, you'll need to use Display Stream Compression with HDMI 2.1.
