HDMI to DP

My monitor is the ASUS ROG PG278Q Black 27" WQHD 2560 x 1440, 144 Hz 1ms (GTG) NVIDIA G-Sync
I want to get the Nintendo switch but my monitor only has DP.
So please if you can help me with this weird problem I am having that would be awesome.
Also budget is 100 Canadian

You will need an adapter like Martell said but his adapter is wrong.
You need to go from HDMI to DP, while his goes from DP to HDMI
DP - HDMI is easy as most DP port video cards have the abilty for this, while going from HDMI to DP requires an active adapter (that means a circuit board with its own power source).

I was hoping to not have an adapter but if it's the only way I can deal with it.

boosted has it correct, but i'm not sure how you're going to power that with the nintendo switch, since i'm pretty sure it doesn't have an open USB port.
