As the title suggests I have a nice DVI-D PC monitor, I would prefer to use with the Xbox One, question is can I do this with audio?

I know you can do it with Xbox 360, but what about the Xbox One?

(I have a nice pair of headphones but those are not supported)

Would something like below work? Any help appreciated.

Hi,

HDMI and Single-Link DVI-D use the same electrical specification and the same pinout. On many GPUs the only difference is the shape of the physical connector. The GPU probes the EDID block to find out which specification to use. On many adapters it is possible to transmit audio through a Single-Link DVI-D connection provided that the endpoint supports it.

Thanks for the info Pinhedd im not sure if it supports it, so does anyone know if I plug the DVI side audio jack of this cable into my monitor, and then just put the HDMI in the xbox as that doesnt have an audio in... will I get sound?

Just wondering how can I get those cables I need to do it on my TV for my Xbox One. Please respond asap. THANKS!

I saw this particular cable on a website, and it said the 3.5mm audio cable was simply in the same cable harness, and does not use the hdmi audio. Therefore, the audio cable is separate from the DVI-D to HDMI cable, and they do not work together. I am having the exact same problem, trying to decide which cable to get, but as there is no 3.5mm audio output on the Xbox One, this cable will not work for you.

Ah, that makes a lot more sense. So it must be a passive HDMI to DVI cable with a companion two channel 3.5mm jack. I figured that must be the case given that there's not nearly enough space for the hardware needed to strip the audio out of the HDMI signal and convert it to baseband. I would doubt that the HDMI specification allows for enough power on its own either.
