HDMI to HDMI = no cable connected

I purchased a new display with a HDMI in. Since my graphics card has a HDMI out I connected it that way but the monitor stays black. If I connect card an monitor with dvi it works fine but HDMI does not. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

System:
Amd cpu, radeon hd 5670 gpu, windows 7, latest gpu driver

PS: I know I could leave it on dvi but I want to connect 2 monitors so for the 1st one I would like to use HDMI and dvi for the second one.

How long has it been since you bought that card? Also was the graphic card HDMI port working before?
