Hdmi to VGA converter works for 2 seconds then screen goes black.

I have an old monitor that has only a vga slot, i recently bought a hdmi to vga converter to connect it to my gtx 1050Ti, it works for 2 seconds everytime i plug it then my screen becomes black.

Make sure you have right resolution and frequency set because that monitor may not work on those settings.

it can run 1440x900 @75Hz, I tried plugging it to my laptop (it has a hdmi port) and it only works when i change my resolution or do something, it looks normal for 2 sseconds then simply goes black.
