Recently I acquired a new Graphics card (Gigabyte 1070 Ti 8G) for my pc, however my monitor only has an VGA in.
So I bought an active HDMI to VGA adapter.
However when plugged into my monitor it shows a message: "No video input" and goes into sleep mode.
So I tested it on the my TV with HDMI, no converters and all and it worked.
I thought it was just a bad converter so I went ahead and bought a DP to VGA active converter, which looks exactly like the HDMI one I've bought, but with a DP cable.
The monitor used to work normally with my Saphire 270x 4GB attached to a passive DVI-I to VGA converter and still does. So before I go ahead and buy a monitor could anyone maybe offer some tips as to how to fix it? Am I missing something obvious?

My system specs are as follows
Intel Core i5 4590
1x Kingston 4GB ram stick
Biostar b85mg
Gigabyte 1070 Ti 8G
Thermaltake 730w PSU
Windows 10 64 bit, latest build I think
Monitor: Philips 226v4lsb2/10

Solution
No, I don't think you are missing anything obvious. Some active converters work well with some cards, some don't. Buy the new monitor.
