Question Hdmi to vga not working with graphic card

Hi, I bought a new graphic card (RX 580 8gb). I had 2 monitors (both VGA). First, i tried connecting them to the card through vga to hdmi adaptor and it didn't work, then went back to the store where I bought it and he said the problem was that I needed an hdmi to vga adaptor he switched them for me but still it doesn't work, but if i connect it to my TV (hdmi) it does work.
Any solution?
