I have a ASUS monitor that only has a VGA plug in at the back. The gpu i got only had DVI-D and HDMI, i got an HDMI adapter and it worked (it wasnt a converter). Then my monitor broke (the background lights needed to be changed i think) and when i got it back it didn't work anymore with the adapter. I thought the adapter was broken so i got a cable male HDMI and female VGA but it still didn't work. When i would turn my computet on the screen would remain black. Not even a "No signal" message would pop up. Can someone please help

Solution
Conversion from HDMI to VGA requires an active adaptor. You could use a DVI-I to VGA adaptor or cable but you NEED a DVI-I port on your graphics card, a DVI-D port will not work.

Solution
If your monitor worked before sending it in for repair and upon getting it back it does not work indicates that the "repaired" monitor is not functioning properly. In other words, the dead monitor is the fault of the repair shop.

Call the company and tell them the monitor that you received after repair is not working.
