I built a new computer and when i went to start it i got no signal. I checked everything and tried again and still got nothing. So, i removed my Graphics card and plugged the hdmi into the motherboard and it worked fine. so i tried to install the graphics card again with the hdmi also and still cant get a signal from the hdmi port.
ASUS Strix GTX 960
ASUS Z97-A MOBO
i5 4690k

Uninstall the GFX card, upgrade the Mobo BIOS and Chipset Drivers to the latest release and then reinstall the GFX drivers with the latest one from ASUS (if you haven't done so already). You should be able to configure the onboard GFX to be the primary display in BIOS and leave the Strix card in the PCI-E slot.

Alternately, connect the card with a DVI lead instead - it'll work fine, install the GFX card drivers, then the HDMI will work - it sounds like your trying to get a HDMI signal before you've installed the Strix card drivers

I installed all the drivers with the DVI hooked up and then installed the graphics card and tried to power on with the hdmi hooked up but still got no signal.

Does your monitor have integrated speakers? Does the Sound card recognise a HDMI connection from the GFX card?

It's almost like the HDMI port is disabled on the GFX card...

Have you tried or checked the following:
Is the HDMI lead fully inserted in the socket? I know if the GFX card is installed a little skewed the HDMI port on those cards is right next to the PCI slot dividers on the chassis and this can prevent the HDMI lead from being fully inserted into the socket (this happens a lot actually and is easily overlooked)
Do you have a second screen to plug in to the DVI? In theory, you should be able to connect both the HDMI and DVI leads to the same monitor and switch between them (well I can on my BenQ screens anyway)
Can you see if it will pick up a TV with the HDMI connection?
Do you have another HDMI lead to try?

Is there any chance you may have shorted the HDMI lead while connecting things up and you've buggered the HDMI socket on the GFX card (you'd have to be one unlucky SOB for that to have happened though :) )

i have tried 3 different hdmi cords, they all work on other devices and my monitor, but still no signal from the graphics card. i made sure the cable was in fully but didnt over exert too much force. i am starting to think the port is broken.
