HDMI works in GPU, DVI does not

Hi there,
I completed my build today and when I went to install windows 10 off of a bootable usb, I was unsuccessful in getting a signal with my DVI plugged into my gtx. I tried an HDMI cord and was unsuccessful too, so i plugged my dvi into the mobo and tried that, successfully receiving a signal. After downloading my gpu's drivers, I was successfully able to connect an hdmi to the gpu and obtain signal, but not with a dvi. I looked into the windows settings and saw the monitor switching between the inbuilt gpu and my gtx (when hdmi connected to gpu). I'm not really sure what to do or how to fix this to allow my dvi to work. I don't think it's the dvi cable because there is no issue for the mobo to monitor using it. My 1080 is in the 2nd slot of my mobo because my fan is pretty big, but I don't think that should cause any issues either. I'll post my build below, any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
