Hi!
I just bought a new TV and I want to use its features with my desktop PC. I'm interested in 2 things:
1. watching movies in the best possible quality
2. 4K HDR gaming
My setup is:
Intel i7-4771
16Gb CL6 1600Mhz DDR3
GTX970
Standard SSDs and HDDs
Asus H87Pro motherboard
Philips 50PUS7363 TV
Dell U2412M
Some old 5.1 Speaker (I'm using the motherboards native 5.1 support and RCA cables)
Windows10
Far as I understand, my TV is HDR and 4K capable so I should look for 2160p, HDR content. I'd watch downloaded videos (HEVC maybe?) and streamed stuff too.
What is the easiest way to watch these videos? Should I use an external HDD, or a big usb stick (isn't it too slow?). Or is it better to use an HDMI cable (which one?) and play it directly from PC (with what software?)? How can I enable HDR? Is it worth the hassle? How do I play HDR from youtube?
And the other topic: is it possible the enable HDR in PC games? Also, could my GTX970 handle games like Assassins Creed Origins or Witcher3 in 4K? (and in HDR?)
In 1200p, SDR they worked very well (almost everything on ultra near 60fps), but what should I expect? Will it impact heavily my framerates? Can I go by with medium to high settings, or I should expect low with 30fps?
I couldn't tested these things yet, because we are moving currently, and the is already at the new place, but PC (and the internet) at the old, but I'd be happy, if someone would enlighten me about these new standards, so I won't spend days figuring out them myself! Thanks!
(Edit: because I'm currently spending my money on chairs, tables, and home stuff, my budget is thight, so no new gpu, or fancy media players. I may buy an external HDD or an usb stick, but that's all I can do right now)
