Just picked up a Vizio M558-G1 yesterday as my 'computer monitor'
it is stupid large... but I will do my best to cope lol. Replacing an older low-end 4k 40" Samsung 40D display.
Anywho, the picture overall looks pretty great. I think the reds need some adjustment, but I will sort that out over time as I get to learn the ins-and-outs of the TV.
My main question is... how on earth do you get a PC to display HDR? The standard picture looks fantastic, but I would love to play some HDR games (I have an old copy of ReCore to test with, which I think was the first HDR capable game?) and movies down the road if possible.
Setup:
GTX1080 - Latest nVidia drivers
Win10 Pro 1903, fully updated
i7 2600 (looking to upgrade soon to a Ryzen 3K series)
Vizio M558-G1 - Latest firmware update
Connection is going from DVI on the gtx1080 to HDMI2 on the TV. HDMI 1 is used for ARC out to a sound bar.
TV is set up in "Computer" mode which allows for full 4:4:4 input (big upgrade in clarity over the old 4:2:2 panel that this replaced!).
I have looked at a few forums about enabling HDR on win10/nVidia when going out to a TV, but the options mentioned do not appear to be available? Maybe a registry hack to bring the options forward?
When I try to enable HDR via the win10 Settings App for "games and movies" it acts as if it is going to enable, brings up a confirmation box on if I want to accept the changes, and then goes right back to 'off'.
Any help is appreciated!
