Headless MSI b350M mortar - Remoter only works if a monitor is attached

I have just changed to an MSI b350 mortar arctic.

Everything smooth, except:

When I unplug the monitor to run headless, I can't remote into my VNC server. It works fine when the monitor is attached (hdmi into a GTX 1060).

Didn't see anything obvious in bios... looks like it thinks there's a problem because the EZ diagnostic led is lit.

Surely there is a way to rectify this?

You need a headless adapter/display emulator. They are usually only a few bucks.

so this particular mobo doesnt support headless POST?

In my Asus b350m-a mobo, it works just fine.
